TEXEL SHEEP

Pure Bred Registered Texels
for over 30 years

Grass Fed

Raise sheep that perform on grass—not just in the show ring.

I help producers replace underperforming genetics with purebred, registered Texel sheep
that grow fast on pasture, require fewer inputs, and deliver more meat per lamb
—selected for real muscle, real growth, and real-world performance on grass.

No grain tricks. No expensive supplements.
What you see is what you get—proven, pasture-raised Texels
ready to work in your system,
straight from our pastures to yours!

I don’t want to spend the money or time feeding grain when there is grass to graze.

Tired of sheep that looked good on show day but don’t preform for you on your farm?

I am breeding for lambs that put on great muscle and fast while out on pasture.

Loin Eye scanning results are in. My entire 2025 lamb crop’s average adjusted loin eye area was 3.29 (94 lambs). The average adjusted loin eye area at the National Texel Show & Sale in 2025 was 3.01. This isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison because my Texels were raised on grass, no grain all grazing season! And these aren’t just my best; this is the whole lamb crop!

To compare my WHOLE 2025 lamb crop to British Texels:
-Please note this is not an apples-to-apples comparison because my lambs were about 8.5 pounds heavier than the British Texel weight at scanning and about 6 weeks older but it gives some perspective.
-My Muscle Depth/Loin Depth is 32.2 mm where the 10 year British average depth is 28.2 mm, mine are 4mm bigger.
-My lambs fat depth was less than the British 2.6 mm versus my 2.1 mm which probably is due to my flock being grass based, so they are lean….lean growing machines on grass.

Updated NSIP Data arriving very soon!

My Texel flock grazes a 30 acre solar site on my farm. I don’t waste time or money on feeding them grain out there.
They each have Vegetation Maintenance Technician work experience .

In 2025 we had over 100 Texel lambs born at Halbur’s Heavenly Hill.
